AI will take your job (or a big part of it at least)
As someone who works in the business world, I have seen the growing impact that AI is having on us. AI technology is quickly automating tasks that were once performed by humans, and this trend shows no signs of slowing down. Microsoft wouldn’t have invested $10 billion in AI technology if it was just a passing trend, I assure you.
From data analysis and customer service, to marketing and sales, AI is taking over many of the tasks that once required human expertise. This is both good news and bad news for us. On one hand, AI can help us to be more efficient and productive, freeing us up from routine tasks to focus on more strategic work. On the other hand, it also means that many of the tasks that once made up our job descriptions are now being performed by machines, leaving us with fewer responsibilities and less job security.
ChatGPT, a language generation model created by OpenAI, has garnered significant attention as of late. The model is trained on a massive corpus of text data, allowing it to generate human-like responses to a wide range of prompts. The impressive performance of ChatGPT has resulted in its widespread adoption across various industries, including customer service, content creation, and education. While incredibly innovative, ChatGPT has brought the debate about AI front and center for many in the business world.
AI will trickle down change to nearly every industry, but I predict that in 10 years the industries that are most likely to be impacted by AI are manufacturing, retail, and transportation. I predict it will also have a significant impact on white-collar jobs such as finance and accounting. On the other hand, jobs requiring human skills such as creativity, empathy, and critical thinking will likely be less affected by AI.
Don’t get me wrong — I am not anti-AI and while I admit AI will never fully replace human workers in the business world (fingers crossed), it’s important that we start preparing ourselves for the changes it will bring. Keep this notion in mind — Companies will ALWAYS look for creative ways to reduce payroll expenses. It happened during the tech boom and it will happen during the AI boom.
The best thing you can do, other than sit around and wait for a Skynet-like AI takeover, is to invest in new skills and stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends. Be a lifelong learner — Doing so will allow you to remain competitive in an increasingly automated job market.
